Class Name:   Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) Training

Prerequisite:  Limited to sworn law enforcement officers who are trained and proficient in the use of the NHTSA Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs), including the use of Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus.

Description:  ARIDE training provides refresher training on the use of the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs) and information on identifying persons driving under the influence of drugs.  While this training is not a substitute for DRE training, participants leave with a better understanding of the effects of drugs on a person’s ability to operate a vehicle safely and how to identify the signs and symptoms caused by many different prescription and illicit drugs.

Drug Recognition Expert

Class Name:   Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) School

Classroom Training:  April 12-22, 2021

Class Time:  1000 – 1800 hrs.

Location: Baltimore County Police Department, 7200 Sollers Point Road, Dundalk, MD 21222

Prerequisite:  Limited to sworn law enforcement officers who are trained and proficient in the use of the NHTSA Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs).

Description:  This will be a combined DRE Pre-school followed immediately by the 7-Day DRE School for those who successfully complete the Pre-school. Those wishing to attend must already be trained and be proficient with the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests.

Location: Maryland Police & Correctional Training Commission, Sykesville, Maryland

Prerequisites:  Limited to sworn law enforcement officers who trained as an SFST Instructor, and currently certified as a Drug Recognition Expert.
